The Claim Assay

Put a claim under the lens.

Inspect the wording. Trace the anchors. See what holds.

How the instrument reads
01

Quantified figures

We look for numbers, quantities, monetary values, and other measurables that give shape to a claim.

02

Named institutions

We identify references to governments, companies, research bodies, and other named institutions that anchor the claim.

03

Completed actions

We look for concrete actions, dates, and events that suggest progress beyond intention or aspiration.

Textual signals invite scrutiny. They do not establish whether a claim is true.

The method and wire baseline

The assay is a deterministic heuristic engine, not a language model. Substance accrues from quantified figures, monetary specificity, named institutions, study or trial evidence, statutory references, and completed-action verbs. Inflation accrues from the rhetorical buzzword and euphemism registries of our epistemic auditor, plus a penalty for promises with no numbers attached. The verdict is the arithmetic of the two — which means it can be argued with, checked, and reproduced.

The same lens scores all 2930 stories on the wire. Wire baseline: 38% implementation ratio · 147 signals classified as verified · 696 claims awaiting proof. These are heuristic classifications.
